Cheaters

As I am sure you all know, one of the world's greatest golfers (and one of my golf idols) has recently fell from media grace to media hell. Yes friends, Tiger Woods now joins the ranks of former presidents, athletes, governors, senators, as one of the many who have cheated on their spouse. Yes its sad but true...however, lets keep this in perspective, how many men and WOMEN (yes women do cheat) have done this before? Honestly, is cheating on your spouse breaking news? Not that I am condoning cheating (I don't), but people do make mistakes and do the wrong the thing. But every time something like this happens, the news and media act like it has never happened before. Then the media proceeds to flood us and damn near shoves this story down our throats. Hell, I am watching only Discovery and History Channels so that I can avoid this "monumental news" (sarcasm). I truly do feel sorry for Tiger and his family. While most of the world can handle their infidelities privately and work things out with their spouses behind close doors; while those that are famous have a media parade dancing around them watching their every movement. I don't know where exactly we the public and the media thought it was acceptable to know every personal detail of the Woods family and how they handle this issue. But it is really none of our business that includes you too Wendy Williams and Perez Hilton. And not only for Tiger Woods, but the other famous people out there, they deserve to have their privacy respected. How would you feel if you were in their position? But I digress....

CHEATERS....wrong right? Well to put it simply yes it is wrong. But lets see, why did Tiger cheat exactly? Was there something else that occurred in his marriage? Who knows? But yeah Bad Tiger, you shouldn't have cheated. But before women start championing poor Elin as a victim; let us remember that women do cheat as well. So before we go on a men hating tirade, women do cheat, maybe they don't get caught as often, but they cheat too. At the end of the day, cheating is wrong, and there may be a reason that it happened, maybe she wasn't caring for him or taking care of his needs? Or maybe Tiger is just a selfish jerk and wanted to bang a hot cocktail waitress or something? I don't know. But then again I don't care. I just hope Tiger can put this behind him and get back to being the greatest golfer in the world and setting more records for the next generation of golfers to compete for....

As always...Work like everything depends on you, Pray like everything depends on God.

  1. Because you are my loving brother I felt the need to add my two "sense." The sad part about the situation is that cheating is so common now that someone would think that it is not news! There is a certain sanctity that marriage should hold, beyond being a trophy wife, sugar daddy, or a mere child bearer. Keep in mind I understand fully that we are all human and fall short of grace everyday. So should Tiger's transgressions be paraded for media ratings, no. Not at all! Hell I think that should be a crime in itself.

In fact I feel worse for his kids. This probably is not the first time he was caught cheating. So I would bet his wife had some feeling, or knowledge of what was going on. And you personally knowing versus now the world knowing is completely different and will cause you to change the way you react to the situation (i.e. Rihanna & Chris Brown..we all know if things were never made public they would still be together).

Aside from the adultery part, the true tragedy is the affect on his children. There will come a day were they are literate and will surf the net with ease. And what will they see? Glad you asked...they will see that in 2009 their beloved father (that of course is assuming his relationship with them is not strained already anyway) repeatedly cheated on their mother with multiple partners. They will see their father's squeaky clean image tarnished with random "eye of the tiger" infidelity jokes. They might not feel the brunt of his endorsement deals funneling like the water in a toilet, as he has already banked a billie(dollars that is). Not only will they see it but their peers will know too! Can you say embarrassing--and no amount of money can wipe away that feeling. No child needs to see or experience that.

When you decide to marry and start a family, your life is not just about you anymore. You sign your life over to serve others as soon as you say "I do". Cheating affects more than just the person being cheated on. So if you are not ready for that committment then do not get married. I mean geez, Mj (RIP) experienced the joy of fatherhood after his marriage was over.

I think we should all start thinking about what marriage truly means. In Tiger's case, no one forced him to get married and I am sure he was well aware of his ferocious appetite for women, before he got married. Marriage is not a cure for that. It will not naturally curb that desire. "What you do in practice, you will repeat in the game". So if you are a habitual cheater, I highly doubt having a wife will change that for you. Marriage does not solve problems. In fact it can make them much worse. Why men and women get married out of obligation or perceived pressure, idk. But if we all took a step back and thought about what marriage truly means and all that you give up and gain with it, maybe just maybe we would honor the union more... It is time to reclaim our families!
